(As seen, with minor editing, in yesterday’s Businessline.)
Recently I had the opportunity to sit down with an HR professional over a cup of coffee and get to know her side of the Young Manager dilemma.
The Young Manager Dilemma is what we call the entire superset of problems ... Continue reading »

  • Cribbing is our birth right, and we will continue doing it and in that process we will eat the HRs from head to tail (assuming that new-age devils have tails like the old ones) ....and if these HR's are too bad(in taste) then maybe pass them through the shredder along with the VP finance....

    nice post

ps: yuppie, another fist comment !!! two times in a row !!!
  • Just can't help it...
  • When I started reading, I thought it was another HR bashing post and I was all (groan), not another one!
But then it got better. And being an HR person - I THANK you for putting some perspective into the minds of these 'Young monsters... erm... managers..'.
Oh - to work in China....
  • But, you had to admit that HR people are MOSTLY frikkin STUPID. I think it's a process of natural selection than ensures that.
  • hmmmmmmmmmmmmm..........its not easy to please all.. but i wish they had a backbone though.. to stand up to management! fluffy puppy is not just right!
  • btw my HR guy asked me to search coffee machines on the net for him and give him a quote because he had no bandwith!!
  • Well said. HR guys are born with strait-jacketed brains. They simply cannot think beyond what they have learned at their colleges and institutes.
  • HR is responsible for me today being one among the many educated unemployed, underpaid yet talented people in our country. Even so I don't hate HR guys. I;d like to keep one in my house - as a pet at the end of a leash.
  • The fact is he had no brains.
  • Dunno why but whenever I think of HR guys, I seem to think of buffaloes. The same expression. Possibly also the same way of working.
  • Dear HR guy, do India a favor. Work in China.
  • well thanks for a perspective on cribbing..never mind u used the most ofetn used "HR Bashing tool" !!

well being from this fraternity, can tell you the biggest disadvantage is reputation of the profesion(emphasised on by humour writers as well as comments:)) precedes the reputation of the person..!

    good posts!
  • Are you telling me HRs do not crib?? I think if you ask your friend if she thinks she could do her boss's job THEN you will know what cribbing is....I seriously think HRs are just like our politicians....the want everybody else to pay taxes (pay cut) while their pay hikes are passed unanimously! :D
  • Although difficult to imagine yourself in such a situation, from the outside the HR policy of that Chinese company is quite hilarious. I mean, if you have to pay fines for talking back to your boss and might even be fired for doing it more than twice, it's fairly comical for an outsider.
  • HR.. awesome. I used to work at a company where the attrition rate was highest in the HR department. Heehee! Irony..!!
